Public project

Project Kings of the Street was conceived as a public art project that turned our attention to the local homeless community. The project consist of media action, collaboration with local homeless community and one-day street action. The irruption in to the city structure was based on the activation of homeless that was focused on mutual discussion and exchange - without artefacts. The one-day street action started with an official signing of the contract on co-operation between the homeless and PMCA. Podia with armchairs were erectede in the centre of the city to define the places where the homeless would communicate with the passers-by.
Within the project we studied analogues economic models: those of sicial minorities, the street economy, "cultural retreats", etc. We were asking: What can homeless teach us about the economics of everyday life? How can one resist the dominant economic models? How to create self-sufficient or parasitic economic structures?
